HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

1.0 Scope and Purpose

The Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) establishes the policies, programs, procedures, and responsibilities necessary to protect workers, subcontractors, clients, visitors, and the public from workplace hazards.

This system is designed to:

  • Prevent workplace injuries and occupational illnesses.

  • Promote safe work practices and behaviors.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.

  • Support hazard identification and risk control.

  • Encourage worker participation in health and safety initiatives.

  • Establish a framework for continual improvement.

The program applies to all company operations, including commercial cleaning, healthcare cleaning, floor care services, specialty cleaning projects, management staff, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, and temporary workers.

3. Health and Safety Policy

Management is committed to maintaining a safe workplace, providing training and supervision, investigating incidents, identifying hazards, supporting worker participation and continuously improving health and safety performance.

The company will:

  • Comply with applicable health and safety legislation.

  • Maintain an effective health and safety program.

  • Provide information, instruction, supervision, and training.

  • Ensure hazards are identified and controlled.

  • Investigate incidents and near misses.

  • Encourage worker participation in safety activities.

4. Annual Safety Objectives

Management establishes objectives annually to measure and improve program effectiveness. Zero preventable workplace injuries; WHMIS compliance; new worker orientation completion; prompt reporting of hazards and incidents; routine inspections; continuous improvement; subcontractor safety management; enhanced client confidence through safety excellence

4.1 Objectives

Injury Prevention

Achieve zero preventable workplace injuries.

Training Compliance

Maintain 100% completion of all required health and safety training programs.

WHMIS Compliance

Ensure all workers receive WHMIS training and instruction before being exposed to hazardous products.

Hazard Reporting

Increase worker participation in hazard identification and near-miss reporting.

Workplace Inspections

Complete all scheduled workplace inspections in accordance with company requirements.

Corrective Actions

Ensure all identified corrective actions are completed within established timelines.

Worker Participation

Improve worker involvement in safety initiatives, inspections, meetings, and reporting activities.

Safety Culture

Foster positive communication, engagement, and accountability regarding workplace health and safety.

4.2 Performance Monitoring

Progress toward achieving these objectives shall be monitored and reviewed on a quarterly basis by Management. Performance indicators may include:
